Memory of the day:
Today was filled with ups and downs. It started with making a breakfast casserole and an elliptical workout. Then quickly turned downhill with a sick baby. Even after sleeping 11 hours, Walker's cold took a turn for the worse. She has runny nose, watery eyes, all typical symptoms including wanting to be held at all times - far from typical for this little girl. Then, at 9:00 am Ava peed all over the floor because she waited too long. After cleaning her and the bathroom (while Walker screamed - remember she wanted to be held non stop), she proceeded to poop in the "small" potty for the first time with no pull up. I didn't know whether to cry, scream, or laugh. We have been trying so hard to get rid of pull ups but the whole peeing on the floor seemed to kind of negate the pooping. But it WAS major progress so we celebrated with fruit snacks and princesses. After a short nap in mommy's lap (picture above), Walker seemed a little better and I was able to clean some bathrooms. After lunch, Walker took a 3 hour nap. I was hoping she would wake up miraculously better but no such thing. Still really congested and just not herself.
After dinner Ava declared she was going to poop on the "big" potty so that daddy would take her to Chuck e Cheese. And that is just what she did - pooped on the potty!!! We celebrated big this time - poo poo dance and all! Bart took her to chuck e cheese and to get ice cream! She kept saying "I'm so proud of myself!". Now let's hope this continues!
How she did it (in case you are wondering). When I finished working, back in February, I told Ava no more pull ups in bed (because that was the only place she pooped). This first step was the hardest. I made a treat box and each time she pooped in the bathroom in her pull up she got to pick a treat. Once she had that down, we moved to getting a treat only when pooping in pull up sitting on potty. After a week, she was doing pretty good with that so yesterday we went to only getting a treat when she pooped on potty with no pull up. Day 1 of this she refused and said no treat was fine. She still went but in pull up. Day 2 (today) - SUCCESS!!
