Vacay 2010 - Wisconsin

Well, hello all! It's been quite awhile!

I'm going to try and catch up this week...but I'm not making any promises.

A lot has beening happening - vacay, Ava big girl bed/room, first day of preschool, etc...

Since turning two Ava has gone from a toddler bed to a BIG girl bed (aka full size bed)! She loves it! I don't have pictures of her new big girl room yet but hopefully will get them soon (even though the room is not completely done yet). Full update to follow.

Now on to vacay -
We went to Door County, WI with my family (mom, dad, trey, tina, and richard even came for a couple of days).
We had a great time. It was a quiet, quaint area with gorgeous weather!

We left on a Friday night and drove halfway. Ava did pretty good in the car considering she didn't sleep much! Lots of Wiggles (which daddy is sick of!)

We checked into Stone Harbor Hotel (which is on Sturgeon Bay) on Saturday afternoon. We soon figured out that Sturgeon Bay was a pretty small town with not a whole lot to do. The Door County peninsula basically has a bunch of small towns about 15 - 30 min apart. Each town has it's own restaurants, shops, attractions. Sturgeon Bay happened to be the smallest with the least amount of stuff. But no big deal! Saturday night we drove to Bailey's Harbor for dinner. It was yummy! We sat outside with a water view! Beautiful! And a little chilly! But it was welcomed since we had come from 100 degree weather.

Sunday we laid by the pool and awaited Tina and Richard's arrival. We all had lunch and hung out. I honestly don't really remember what else we did that day. We did have an early dinner before the Harbor Lady Cruise (which turned out to be quite a disappointment :(

Sunday was an early evening (who am I kidding most of the nights were early with a 2 yr old) because the guys and Tina went fishing Monday morning at 4am. Everyone (except Tina - she was the fishing photographer) caught a salmon! Yummy! We brought lots home and it is delicious!

Ava was a little unsure of Richard to begin with. She didn't want to get too close but always looking at him to see if he was looking at her. If we left the room, she would always ask where Richard was. Had to know where he was all the time. Pretty funny!

Monday afternoon was low key - all the fishers (and Ava) were tired so they napped while mom and I did a little shopping. Richard had to leave Monday afternoon. We are so glad he joined us for a couple days and hope we didn't bore him!

Monday night we had a great dinner at some lodge in the middle of nowhere! Again right on the water but I don't remember the name.

Tuesday we went to Fish Creek (a small town about 30 min north). Breakfast at White Gull Inn. Ava was overly tired already at this point and was a bear during breakfast! She went Friday through Wednesday with only one nap! Yikes! After breakfast, we rented bikes and rode through Peninsula State Park! So fun! There were playgrounds along the way for Ava (and Trey) to play and a lighthouse and a beach. Beautiful! We biked 9.2 miles in about 2 hours.
It was a slow scenic route!

A little shopping after the bike ride and then an early dinner. This night Ava fell asleep at 5pm and slept until 7am the next morning. Poor girl was worn out!!!

Wednesday morning we packed up and headed home! Such a fun time with my favorite people!

Enjoy the pics!

Enjoying her sucker!

After dinner on Saturday night!

Grandma hanging out with some wine.

This picture cracks me up! Richard is holding the chips and Ava was a little unsure about getting too close.
